Definition: This position prospects and handles the sales and booking process for weddings, day meeting/catering functions and some social group events. The Catering Sales Manager has significant contact with guests and members. Also this position will assist the Director of Catering Sales and Conference Services in developing departmental budget and marketing plans. General Duties: *Solicit and book via verbal and written communication for weddings and social events. *Respond to customer inquiries within 24 business hours or less. *Qualify prospective clients and take them on site tours of the facility, including but not limited to: Yacht Club, Hotel, and Amenities. *Have a general knowledge of need-dates, holidays, and other activities and events that determine best revenue-management when booking. *Keep updated on current trends for social and wedding functions by monitoring key sites and resources including The Knot. *Take a proactive approach in looking for creative ways to increase revenue and productivity in the workplace. *Collaborate with the Banquet Chef and/or Director of Food and Beverage on custom menus or special setup requirements. *Kindly and professionally accommodate walk-in prospects. *Create and maintain sales tools, including but not limited to: Sales Packets, Photo Archive, Mock Setup Display, etc. *Distribute Site Alerts as needed to inform department heads of group's arrival. *Prepare creative proposals/cost estimates for prospective clients. *Prepare and issue contracts for tentative bookings in a timely manner. *Document all pertinent conversations and emails exchanged with the clients in the catering system (currently Delphi) per department standard procedure. *Follow all Resort rules and policies concerning club and group functions. *Maintain confidentiality and currency of client files. *Maintain mail-out duties such as thank you letters, surveys, re-booking, reminders, etc. *Issue department reports as required and scheduled. *Assist as needed within the department based on seasonal demand. *Participate in sales training activities to increase department revenue. *Assist in developing department budget and marketing plan, and succession planning.

Employment standards: *3-6 years experience in the field or related area; min. 2 years of event planning experience, preferably sales *Exceptional communication and organizational skills *Must be able to access, input and retrieve information from the computer, with particular proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) *Must be able to type 40 words per minute *Maintain professional composure in high stress situations and focus on balancing client requests with good business for the resort. *Ability to work with clients both in person and by phone *Must have neat and professional overall appearance
