Job Details
- Monitor sales staff performance to ensure that goals are met.
- Provide staff with assistance in performing difficult or complicated duties.
- Hire, train, and evaluate personnel.
- Prospect and qualify new business by conducting regular market drives, utilizing reports such as Hotelligence, In-house guest lists, Industry Publications, etc.
- Pro-actively solicit new accounts for assigned hotel by making face-to-face sales calls in the assigned market on a regular basis as appropriate.
- Accountable for building base business within the corporate transient segment.
- Respond to sales leads as provided by the hotel(s), client referrals, CVB leads.
- Ensure the prompt servicing of accounts.
- Attend company meetings to exchange product information and coordinate work activities with other departments.
- Prepare weekly sales report listing daily efforts, including a summary of all definite and tentative business booked along with any cancellations and/ or lost business.
- Communicate with Brand Database or Distribution Department to set-up rate codes for new corporate accounts and ensure proper tracking of account production.
- Renew negotiated rates annually based on appropriate criteria and communicate rate changes to Brand Database or Distribution Department.
- Responsible for achieving budgeted corporate and group segment goals as established in the business plan.
- Assist hotel staff with training on current marketing programs, new corporate accounts, etc.
- Follow consistent sales office procedures by updating account database; record account activity, call reports, traces, and history.
- Identify and analyze competitor hotels both locally and regionally.
- Report any new market intelligence or trends including changes to competitor’s strengths/ weaknesses.
- Prepare and update a sales action plan indicating all future efforts, goals and objectives outlining weekly sales efforts in a planned, organized realistic plan to develop and grow hotel’s penetration within the assigned segment.
- Represent the hotel in public affairs in the surrounding community and in the hospitality community in your region.
- Build networking opportunities and represent the hotel’s interests in local issues by regularly attending local Chamber of Commerce, Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, hotel associations, and trade shows.
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or hospitality related field preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the hotel industry in a sales capacity.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
