We are currently seeking a dynamic and engaging Director of Sales & Marketing to join and lead our Sales & Catering team at the Blake Hotel in Charlotte, NC.  If you are a self-starter, inspired by a challenge, energetic, enthusiastic, and willing to work hard, this is the opportunity you have been looking for.  Must have previous Director of Sales experience to be considered for this position.

As DOSM, you will be responsible for maximizing all Sales and Catering revenues directly contributing to the profitibility of the hotel.  The DOSM works closely with centralized revenue management and the VP of Sales for the company.  The position is also responsible for successfully coordinating Catering related activity for this large convention style hotel. The ideal candidate will also have worked in the independent world of hotels.  Other responsibilities include staff development, new business development, total account management, preparation and management of a budget. 

Member of the hotels Executive Committee and participate in hotel wide strategy that will exceed stakeholder expectations.

 

Essential elements of this job include:

· Supervise daily operation of the Sales and Catering department

· Team leader and mentor for Sales and Catering Managers

· Develop and deploy effective, proactive strategies based on market research and segment demand

· Thorough knowledge of revenue management and the ability to develop and deploy daily, weekly and yearly strategies based on demand

· Forecasting for group and transient business, as well as catering business

· Accurate measurement of production, performance and profitability of department

· Participate in yearly budgeting process, taking responsibility for developing the budget for the Sales and Catering departments; review and edit strategies as needed

· Develop and monitor guidelines for group bookings that maximize revenue and profit for the hotel

· Maintain relationship with Visit Charlotte and take responsibility for city-wide block requests

· Effective listening and coaching skills

· Initiate and follow up on leads

· Oversee and participate in an active sales solicitation program including prospecting, qualifying, personal sales calls and site inspections

· Communicate with existing accounts as required/needed

· Evaluate trends within market segments and develop proactive strategies with corresponding actions

· Consistently meet/exceed all departmental goals for account development, room nights and revenue

· Skilled at developing lasting relationships with key accounts to ensure repeat business

· Able to work a flexible schedule and travel when required

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products; experience with Daylight Sales Automation system a plus

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to convey information and ideas through a variety of media

· Ability to multi-task and meet/exceed deadlines

· Independent Hotel Experience a plus
