Accounting Manager

POSITION:  Accounting Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Finance   

FLSA STATUS:  Salaried-Exempt  

SAVOR…Chicago, the leading food service provider located at McCormick Place Convention Center has an immediate opening for an Accounting Manager. This position is responsible for Administering and managing daily activities of the accounting function at the facility, assists in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities relating to financial management, budget, accounting, purchasing, and/or payroll in compliance with State and Federal law, and Savor/SMG policies and procedures. Ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.    

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:    

• Assist with preparation of financial statements for the Client and SMG Corporate, and other financial reports, including monthly statements, Annual Budget and Annual Reports.
• Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
• Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses and insurance records.
• Manages and guarantees bi-weekly disbursements of facility payroll for Non-Union and Union employees.
• Manage the process of wage garnishments, deductions and payments for applicable employees.
• Ability to recognize and research errors on payroll reports, including tax credits and employee wage discrepancies.
• Have a clear understanding of Union Contract Language as it relates to company responsibilities defined in the contract. (i.e. Union Dues, Benefits, Pension Plans, Vacation Pay, etc.)
• Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year end reports.
• Prepares and performs bank reconciliations.
• Verifies and checks the accuracy of general ledger coding
• Maintains accounts payable function.
• Prepares and analyzes information for financial statements and reports
• Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues
• Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.  Works with auditors in verifying information/procedures.
• Reviews financial statements with management personnel
• Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
• Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related software, procedures and controls.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:    

• B. S. in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university; 
• At least 3 to 5 years experience in public accounting and/or financial management at a supervisory level or as department head
• Experience with ADP Enterprise required
• Knowledgeable with KRONOS and E-TIME highly desired
• Understanding of payroll taxes, laws regulations and requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheets and word processing software
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organizational ability
• Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information is required
