Principle Responsibilities & Position Purpose:
Administers the hotel’s payroll ensuring that federal, state and local laws are complied with. Responsible for ensuring that all colleagues are paid for hours worked in a timely manner. Oversees vacation accruals, team member deductions and federal/state reporting. Processes all bank deposits and assists the Director of Finance and Controller
*Ensures accurate payroll for all colleagues. Works with VHG Payroll in LA to ensure corporate compliance. Collects, validates and inputs all payroll data in Time Saver/ADP.
*Trains all managers on payroll procedures, TimeSaver and OnTrack .
*Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll laws and regulations and works closely with Human Resources.
* Prepares payroll journal entries and labor reports.
*Receives cash receipts and handles all bank deposits. Makes change for colleagues as needed.
*Audits all banks monthly.
*Assists with Balance Sheet reconciliations and other projects as determined by Dir. of Finance.
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by management based upon the particular requirements of the company.
*Has payroll reports prepared and reviews and analyzes for the purpose of proper payroll forecasting.
*Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, colleagues may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
*Ability to analyze large volume of complex financial information and create reports and forecast projections.
*Basic understanding of complex computerized financial systems and ability to use them, including ability to operate all office machines.
*Ability to effectively deal with team member concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy and providing positive and proactive solutions.
*Ability to communicate orally and verbally in English with staff and outside entities. Certain positions will require the ability to read and write in English as well.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION
High School graduate or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE
At least two years experience managing a payroll function of a similarly sized organization or unit.
Some hospitality experience preferred.
Must have experience directly supervising colleagues.
