Assistant Banquet Manager

The Sheraton Sand Key Resort, located in beautiful Clearwater Beach, Florida is looking for a strong leader to assist our Banquet Director. You will lead a team of outstanding, seasoned professionals who have some of the highest service scores within the franchise organization. You will enjoy working with our Catering Department who has mastered the art of setting up our group business for total success. As the liaison for our groups and staff, you will assist the Banquet Director in orchestrating our banquet business.
If you have at least two or more years of banquet supervisory/management experience and thoroughly enjoy the hospitality industry, this is the place for you. We have 24,000 sq. ft. of meeting space with 10 acres of private beach where we host many outside functions.
Reports to: Director of Banquets and Director of F&B Operations
Purpose: Supervise the banquet service staff at all stages of a function from setup to breakdown. Train service staff and ensure service at the level required by AAA and Sheraton standards.
Job Functions:
Practice, maintain and promote AAA 3 and Sheraton standards, our Brand Core Values and Human Truths.
Check all room sets prior to each event.
Conduct pre-function meetings to ensure staff personal hygiene and appearance standards are met. Review BEOs and allocate stations and partners for each function. Inform staff of specific needs for buffets and receptions.
Review all groups and major conventions over the following 90 days. Check staffing needs for upcoming events.
Check all china, glassware, silverware and linen items needed for the event. Check inventory needs for all upcoming events. Fill out / pull sheets for events.
Communicate with the function meeting planner to ensure all needs have been met and check for any last minute instructions or changes.
Meet with the Banquet Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen. Inform Chef of head count as soon after seating as possible.
Responsible for the proper handling of all equipment, i.e. china, glassware, silverware, linen and props, ensuring proper storage after use and maintaining the cleanliness of all banquet equipment.
Arrange and support cooperation on joint tasks with other departments within the hotel.
During functions, randomly select several tables to evaluate food and service.
Report problems, situations or damaged equipment to Banquet Director/ Director of F&B Operations.
Conduct monthly walkthrough reports on specific physical areas of responsibility as determined by Banquet Director.
Monitor associate performance in accordance with standards and procedures as set forth in the banquet training manual/H.R.
Ensure knowledge of computer programs and math skills. Delphi, Lightspeed, Refine, Microsoft Office knowledge.
Assist banquet management with ongoing training efforts.
Perform other duties as assigned in a professional and timely manner.
Responsible for the following items at close of shift prior to leaving:
A. Asst. Mgr’s. Report: Report any problems or comments.
B. Banquet Check: Food and Beverage input in Delphi. Post to Lightspeed.
C.BEO / Set up sheet: Copy and post the following days final and BEO's on banquetset-up board. To include set-up sheet directions.
D. Requisitions/Pull sheets: Ensure food and bar requisitions and stewarding pull sheets are completed for the week's functions.
E. Asst. Mgr. Departure: The ABMgr never leaves until the function is completely over. Before leaving check out servers and bartenders, ensure the lights are off and the doors are locked. Also, checkout with set-up supervisor and MOD when applicable.
Physical requirements:
Able to lift 50lbs above the shoulder
Able to sit at a desk up to 4 hours per day.
Able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch.
Able to remain standing / walking up to 9 hours continuously.
Able to push and/or pull up to 200 lbs.
Able to work extended shifts up to 12 hours.
