Job Duties Include:

* Management-level food service position that is involved with operation, preparation, and serving of food in a UNT Dining Services location.
* Supervises food preparation in a medium-sized kitchen.
* Confers with cooks concerning the daily menus and preparation of food; issues recipes to cooks.
* Gives instructions on amounts of food to be prepared, on the proper amount and seasoning of foods, the use of leftovers, and available substitutions.
* Assists in interviewing job applicants and in selecting new employees; prepares employee work schedules.
* Inspects food for quality and determines adequate and economical proportions to be prepared and served; inspects prepared food for flavor, seasoning, and temperature.
* Prepares food cost reports.
* Instructs employees on principles and practices of sanitation and personal cleanliness in the preparation and handling of food.
* Conducts a continuous on-the-job training and improvement program in food handling and preparation techniques for part-time and full-time employees.
* Supervises the arrangement of foods on a cafeteria counter, the setting of tables, and the serving of people.
* Orders food supplies and checks incoming deliveries against order ticket.
* Checks food prices and posts menus and price lists.
* Maintains time and cash receipts records.
* Practices appropriate safety procedures related to work performed.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in related field and two years of experience in food service management; or any equivalent combination of experience, education or training. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Strong knowledge of food preparation and food service management in a large food service unit.
* Strong knowledge of employee health, kitchen cleanliness, and sanitation requirements.
* Strong knowledge of hazards to human life and health that can occur from improper food preservation and service.
* Strong knowledge of kitchen equipment, kitchen implements, and advanced food preparation and processing procedures.
* Skill in the preparation and service of food.
* Skill in training, supervising, and evaluating the work of subordinates
* Ability to maintain time and cash receipts records.
* Ability to perform work involving standing, stooping, lifting, and use of utensils and equipment relating to food service operations.
* Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
* Must have a valid Texas Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
* Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed

* Previous Food Management Experience*

*Ability to lift 40 pounds.
