GENERAL MANAGER CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

The General Manager of The Rizzo Conference Center will oversee all business and operating components of this conference hotel.  We are looking for an experienced industry leader to guide the continued success of this exceptional product in both quality and service.  Our final candidate will demonstrate an uncompromising eye for detail, support a culture of "genuine" hospitality, possess a dynamic mature leadership style and the ability to achieve the conference center's business objectives through a balanced approach of prudent operating practices and exceptional guest service.

In light of the pending expansion of the Rizzo Center in early 2013, the successful candidate must be able to embrace the new vision for the asset and will be responsible for the development and execution of the sales and service strategies and initiatives designed to realize this vision, while achieving the agreed financial  and guest service objectives of the business.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Responsible for overseeing the entire operation of the Conference Center, including sales and marketing, all property operations, engineering and human resources, with direct leadership responsibility for the property executive committee; orchestrating and maintaining distinctive and memorable service and operations standards; while promoting unity and teamwork amongst all departments and maintaining a supportive and productive relationship with the owners and the surrounding community and in harmony with the mission of the UNC Keenan Flagler School.

 

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

 

Based on the Center's expressed purpose to support the Keenan Flagler Business School's educational mission and realizing that UNC's annual series of educational programs drive the conference center's operation; it is imperative that the General Manager is in full alignment with key program administrators, business school executives and their appointed representatives concerning the Rizzo Center's business drivers, service expectations and financial objectives throughout their tenure at the property. In addition, the General Manager will communicate and interface regularly with the VP/ Managing Director as well as other DH&R representatives whose purpose it is to support one or more aspects of the operation of this business.

 

EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT

 

The General Manager will experience a sizeable amount of contact: with guests, staff members and various contacts throughout the community and university.   

 

NEEDED ATTRIBUTES

 

The General Manager must possess proven leadership skills in:  guest service, associate relations and general hotel operations.  He/ she must be resourceful, self-motivated, possess a strong work ethic and sense of urgency, exceptional written/ verbal communication skills and be able to guide and direct work teams, individuals and hotel operating departments to achieve the defined financial objectives.  The General Manager must commit to working appropriate hours and handling stress in a positive, responsible way.  The General Manager must possess a track record of providing exceptional service experiences balanced with operational efficiency.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· Lead the marketing and positioning of this Conference Center Hotel.

· Achieve Hotel financial/ business plan goals and expectations as established in the annual business plan for all areas of responsibility and organize/ implement strategic and tactical plans to facilitate this aim.

·  Be fully responsible for the operating success of the Hotel.

· Ensure that the selection, training and ongoing direction for property associates is such that it maintains a high level of job satisfaction/ morale/ teamwork among associates in all areas.

· Provide innovative/ creative thinking and strategies to effectively differentiate the Hotel from its competitive set and exceed fair market share.

· Consistently deliver accurate forecasting projections for each operating area and implement effective adjustments as required in staffing and other cost drivers to ensure profit integrity.

· Achieve high levels of profitability, memorable guest service and customer satisfaction with strong operational expertise in revenue management, sales and marketing, rooms, food and beverage, facilities/ systems and other ancillary disciplines.
