The Sofitel - Philadelphia is a AAA rated 4-diamond, luxury hotel located in the Rittenhouse Square section of center city Philadelphia. With 306 beautifully appointed guestrooms, inclusive of 68 junior suites and 1 Presidential Suite, 16,000 square feet of meeting space, Chez Colette, our Brasserie-style restaurant, Liberté, our newly renovated urban, chic lounge, fitness center, and internet cafe, the hotel has been named Number 1 by TripAdvisor in Philadelphia.

Scope of responsibilities 

Candidate will be responsible for overseeing the food quality, presentation and culinary preparation for both Liberté and Chez Colette restaurants.  Will assist with menu planning, development, costing and ordering and will assist in preparing and planning food for special events, as needed.  Will oversee the training of ambassadors in proper food handling as well as food preparation.  Will be responsible for cooking, food plating, presentation, prepping of food items, butchering, scheduling and training of ambassadors.  Will ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen as well as ensure that sanitation requirements are met.   Candidate will be responsible for ensuring that menu items are prepared according to recipe guidelines, and that food products are presented according to Sofitel standards and specifications.  Candidate will be responsible for ensuring the profitability of the culinary operations for the 2 restaurant outlets.

  • At least 2 years previous experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a luxury hotel/restaurant setting
  • Must have knowledge of all food safety procedures, Serv-Safe certification a plus
  • Broad knowledge of cooking styles with the ability to create menu items
  • Must be flexible with scheduling
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be creative and detail oriented
  • Strong leadership skills required
