Job Description

We are located in the heart of the Uptown/Galleria area, famous for world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment venues and within close proximity to Reliant Center, Museum District, Houston Zoo, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park and the Verizon Wireless Theater. We are also just minutes away from Houston's Central Business District, and both Hobby Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport are only 30-45 minutes away.

The Supervisor will be responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer in maintaining the hotel facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment. Other responsibilities include conducting site inspections, performing preventative maintenance, controlling utility consumption, and managing contractor/vendor work projects. The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team in the maintenance and preventive maintenance efforts for the hotel including the physical aspects of the property's HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, major appliances and amenities. Performs the job duties of the positions supervised.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college or advanced vocational training is a plus. Professional certification and license if required by law.

Two (2) - Five (5) years work experience in building maintenance is required. Hotel maintenance and supervisory experience preferred.

Clearly and concisely, communicate, train and cross training of employees in a multi-lingual staffed environment. Conduct training and developing employees with limited education/experience.

Instill a guest service attitude in all employees.

Ability to utilize a computer to work with the maintenance work order system is required (work order system training is provided).

Ability to read, write and verbally communicate effectively with co-workers and patrons in an English-speaking environment.

Must have the knowledge and ability to perform the basic mathematical calculations, to handle various maintenance projects.

Demonstrate team building experience, and the ability to lead by example with a hands-on approach.

Ability to operate company vehicles such as a truck and hydraulic lift (proper operational and safety training is provided).

Ability to lift, push and or pull 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds with or without the aid of a dolly, hand-truck or cart.

Ability to sit (5% - 10% of typical work shift) to work on various maintenance assignments (like sitting on the ground or under a counter.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (90% of typical work shift) to handle repairs in the shop and on the property.

Ability to kneel, crouch, stoop, squat and twist (50% of typical work shift) to handle various maintenance projects that involve working in low areas such as under a counter or on the ground.

Ability to climb hand-over-hand (5% - 10% of typical work shift) to climb ladders when working on maintenance projects that involve working in high areas such as the ceiling.

Ability to work on project directly above your body while standing up either on the ground and/or a ladder and looking upward with both hands being used to handle the task at hand.
