Creating a high quality experience for our members and guests for special events and business meetings. Managing and directing employees including Captains, Servers and Bartenders. Ensuring staff is working together as a team. Managing daily operations of events area, review set up of arrangements of food, beverage and service. Assist with dining room and food & beverage outlet coverage. Adhere to accurate accounting processes. Maintain financial responsibility.
Job Functions:
Work closely with Catering Director to ensure staffing requirements for private functions are met.
Develop detail plans for each catered event in conjunction with the Catering Director, Executive Chef and Housekeeping Supervisor as necessary.
Diagram buffet tables and other function room set-up needs for events.
Ensure effective communication with guests, other employees and managers and follow up to ensure guest needs are being met.
Conduct pre-function meetings with servers to ensure smooth, efficient service, process events charges and complete event report at end of each event.
Ensure the event staff is well-groomed, in proper uniform and adheres to Jonathan Club policies and procedures.
Monitors performance against budgets including cost saving and payroll control; recommends corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals are met.
Assures proper inventory of all event's equipment, props and supplies are on hand to meet required needs.
Manage club special events, private functions, dining room events and holidays as necessary.
Handles members and guest complaints with an objective of resolving member issues prior to the end of service.
Participates in new hire candidate interviews, training staff, supervision of staff, coaching and conducting performance appraisals.
Distribute and review all training materials to newly hired employees.
Assist with developing and updating training manual.
Develop and administer tests for new and existing employees.
Formulate and conduct monthly staff meetings.
Regularly inspects all front and back of the house service areas and equipment to assure that sanitation, safety, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards for the department are met.
Assures all functions are properly staffed in accordance with approved standards.
Responsible for all function space including neatness, maintenance and preventive maintenance.
Responsible for organizing all events booked through catering and special club events and holidays.
Assumes closing manager and / or MOD responsibilities when applicable.
Conducts after event evaluations to improve quality and efficiency of functions.
Abide by and teach the JC values.
Ensures all appropriate charges are billed correctly to each event and forwarded to the accounting department for billing on the day for the day.
Plans professional development and training activities for staff and captains.
Performs other tasks as requested by the Club Manager and Assistant Club Manager.
Proven track record with like responsibilities in high end environment.
College degree.
A minimum of 5 years experience as a Food and Beverage Events Manager and/or in the role of Banquet Manager:
Thorough knowledge of event execution, (corporate & social functions), food and beverage service techniques and standards.
Strong Food and Beverage Knowledge including working wine knowledge.
Thorough knowledge cost control and payroll procedures.
Thorough knowledge of budgeting.
Ability to be pro-active and reactive to anticipate sudden changes related to Events and Food and Beverage issues
Ability to create, implement and monitor club and staff goals, strategies and policies.
Ability to be resourceful, creative and maintain flexibility.
Ability to train, motivate, evaluate, mentor and direct employees and supervisors to improve themselves and service.
Computer software knowledge.
Ability to build rapport and maintain credibility with all staff members.
Ability to manage by example.
Exceptional oral communication skills.
Ability to focus and maintain attention to performance of tasks despite interruptions.
