A key member of the Executive Committee, the Director of Sales & Marketing will be a creative, energetic and knowledgeable professional, and will be fundamental to the ongoing success of The Fairmont Newport Beach Hotel.

Hotel Overview: The Fairmont Newport Beach hotel in Southern California radiates a dramatic feel from both an architectural and design standpoint. Each and every aspect is designed to surround you with the total 'O.C.' luxury experience.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Sales & Marketing will lead a dynamic sales team, coordinate all marketing initiatives and be accountable for hotel room and Catering revenues with significant input on all streams of revenue including Food & Beverage. The responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

* Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service. * Planning and overseeing the sales effort of the hotel, specifically the achievement of targeted hotel revenues and sales mix.
* Direct and manage all sales training, yearly sales targets, sales quotas, the incentive plan and all other corporate and hotel learning required to maintain the most effective sales professionals in the market.
* Evaluate and initiate opportunities for developing new sources of business in all market segments and thereby broaden the account base.
* Provide overall direction, leadership, training and development to the Sales, Public Relations and Revenue & Reservations teams.
* Develop and manage the annual marketing plan.
* Prepare the annual hotel revenue budget and departmental operation budget.
* Set parameters for rate quotes and for negotiating group rooms contracts.
* Accountable for booking group business originating from own market segment.
* Independently responsible for achievement of sales activities and all objectives outlined in the action plan.
* Responsible for day-to-day duties of prospecting accounts, account development, site inspections and proper Opera account management practices, etc.
* Active in developing new business.
* Keep accurate records of potential customers and follow through on all potential business.
* Upon closing, coordinate and follow-up with convention services, catering and/or other hotel departments to ensure delivery of hotel's promised services.
* Utilize Opera Sales System to track, book and follow-up accounts.
* Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required.
* Participate in sites, fams, and industry trade shows.
* Schedule effective business trips and appointments within assigned markets.
* Participate in prescribed training and special projects.
* Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned. 
* Previous hospitality experience is an asset.
* Previous experience as a Director of Sales and Marketing.
* A proven marketing background required with dynamic team leadership skills.
* Minimum of four years hotel sales management experience required.
* Bachelors Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree preferred.
* Must be results oriented with ability to be flexible.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential.
* Computer literacy (Opera, Word, Excel).
* Ability to understand and interpret financial data.
* Positive attitude and supportive, team based approach towards the attainment of the hotel's goals.
* Ability to travel and work flexible hours and days.
