Job Summary:

Supervise and coordinate activities of Cooks and other workers engaged in preparing and cooking food stuffs by performing the following duties

 

 

Essential Functions:

•Adhere to established department and property policies and procedures regarding guest service standards

•Maintains a positive attitude at all times, supporting the policies of Ameristar Casino

•Must maintain the strictest confidence of any and all confidential information disclosed by an Ameristar entity

•Select, train, and supervise kitchen staff in the proper preparation of menu items

•Ensure proper receiving, storage, and rotations of food products so as to comply with Health Department regulations

•Observe workers engaged in preparing, portioning, and garnishing foods to ensure that methods of cooking and garnishing and sizes of portions are as prescribed

•Give instructions to cooking personnel in fine points of cooking

•Cook and carve meats, prepares dishes, (such as sauces) during rush periods and for banquets and other social functions

•Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and procedures. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems

•Be familiar with the safe handling of cleaning products, equipment, and supplies

•Respond to reasonable to guest requests or place guest in contact with appropriate person for assistance

•Must obtain a Team Member Satisfaction Score of 4.25 or greater

•Must maintain a JD Powers Guest Satisfaction Survey score of 9.0 in the area of “Friendliness”

•Must complete a minimum of three quality coaching forms every quarter on each team member

Required Knowledge and Skills:

•Strong problem solving, mediation, coaching, and consulting skills.

•Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

•Knowledgeable of applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

•Fully Competent in Microsoft Office

•Degree or certificate from a Culinary Institute desired

•Minimum of three (3) years culinary experience

•Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience desired
