Job Description

As the direct contact for groups and conventions coming
to the Convention Center of the City of Cowboys and
Culture, the ideal candidate for the Convention Services
Manager will have prior experience with conference and
meeting planning on a large scale meeting facility. The
ideal candidate will have experience in pre
meeting/convention planning, in meeting/convention
success, and post event billing and evaluation with
clients. The successful candidate will bring experience
to an already skilled team with a history of success.

Essential Functions of the position include:

* Know and utilize the fundamentals of basic selling
skills and techniques, including suggestive selling
techniques and negotiation skills

* Increase sales revenue through effective revenue
management

* Reach and exceed budgeted sales goals

* Write and understand a Catering Banquet Event Order
(BEO)

* Conducts final detailing meetings prior to
conference

* During conference, will ensure the meeting
arrangements are to specifications

* On conclusion of conference, review final bill and
evaluation with meeting planner

* Follows through to insure all meeting arrangements
discussed meet specifications

* Prepare resumes for groups

* Provide site inspections when necessary

* Entertains clients to establish closer working
relations when appropriate

* Recommends special outside services when required

* Knowledge of function space management and its
financial impact

* Adopt and successfully apply departmental policies
and procedures

* Accurately produce sales revenue forecasts

* Know the capacities of all meeting spaces, turn-over
time, rooms sets, building flow and banquet
equipment inventory

* Develop creativity in meals, themes, meetings
arrangements, and welcoming procedures

Job Requirements

* High School Diploma

* Min 2+ years in event planning experience at large
event facility (50Ksquare feet or more)

* Proven Detail orientation

* Highly developed organizational skills

* Ability to form strong internal client and external
client relationships quickly and effectively

* Strong customer service and negotiation skills
