POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for designing architecture for a specific set of applications within a business domain. Defines system and application architecture and provides vision, problem anticipation, and problem solving ability to organization.  Manager will be expected to support and deliver on changes to their specific applications under their responsibility within the enterprise.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 
* Manage multiple technology projects involving multiple vendor teams and LQ personnel at all levels.
* Manage existing enterprise systems and vendor development.
* Manage the delivery of change request for systems.
* Lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. 
* Oversee architecture deliverables and review designs for existing system enhancements and new systems.
* Responsible for assigned strategic planning of application technologies.
* Drive vendor projects to be consistently delivered under La Quinta's prescribed methodology process.
* Review design and architecture of vendor software development projects.
* Lead Root Cause Analysis on production software defects and solution or drive necessary remediation of those defects.
* Review Performance and Test Engineering efforts and deliverables for software development projects.
* Support the Quality organization in vendor management of software support SLAs.
* Lead design of software platform enhancements to meet business stakeholder objects or goals.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

 

M MINIMUM EDUCATION:
* Bachelor's Degree required in Computer Sciences, Management Information Systems or MBA.

 

M MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
* 3 to 5 years of experience in software development of which at least 2 years should be in managing and leading software and/or database design efforts.
* 3 to 5 years of hospitality industry experience - lodging focus preferred.

 

M MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
* Familiar with various software development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Etc.).
* Familiar with lean Six Sigma processes and tools.
* Familiar with UML modeling artifacts and data modeling best practices.
* Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
* Ability to plan and accomplish goals by relying on extensive experience and judgment.
* Expert in multiple disciplines such as project management, technical design, business process design, change management, and test engineering. 
* Has managerial skills needed for providing limited supervision for one or more functions within a department.  Formally plans, assigns, directs, and coordinates the work of these functions.  May perform staff evaluations and make recommendations regarding pay and/or performance.
* Makes recommendations or decisions, which usually affect the assigned unit/division, but may at times affect operations, services, individuals, or activities of others outside of the assigned unit/division.
* Work is broad in scope covering one or more complicated areas.  Policy, procedure, and/or precedent are often created by this position.  A high degree of analytic ability and inductive thinking is required to devise new, non-standard approaches to highly intricate, technically complex problems.
* Makes highly complex decisions; supervision is present to review established departmental and/or divisional objectives.  Independent judgment is required to recommend departmental or divisional objectives, evaluate new approaches to problem solving, and assess changing facts or conditions.
* Responds to and handles unfamiliar situations with little supervisory guidance.
* Has advanced professional skills at the level of a "seasoned" professional.  Requires extensive knowledge of their discipline and a working knowledge of related fields.  Understands information in several unrelated professional disciplines.
* Solves problems that are complex, varied and only mildly related to those seen before.  Simply determining what the problem is requires major individual effort and/or consultation with others within the department.  A high degree of analytical ability and inductive thinking may be required to solve highly intricate, technically complex problems.  Must be able to develop new and nonstandard approaches.
