About Tharaldson Hospitality
There is a distinct possibility that you have already experienced Tharaldson Hospitality during your travels in the U.S.
Tharaldson's was established in 1982 by entrepreneur Gary Tharaldson, with the purchase of a Super 8 Motel in Valley City, ND. Tharaldson's grew with an innovative, unique-to-the-industry approach; think small. Partnering with multiple franchise groups, Tharaldson properties were built in cities with populations often under 100,000 - often college towns in the Midwest - and opted for inns with fewer rooms than the industry standard. The idea was to reduce costs and keep occupancy high, rather than chasing success in the major lodging markets. In more recent years, Tharaldson's has begun focusing on larger markets, where the demand for hotel rooms exceeds supply. Today, Tharaldson's owns 223 hotels in 30 states and continues to build and open new properties.
Appreciating the loyal efforts of its employees, Tharaldson's has subsequently shared the wealth with the adoption of the Employee Stock Ownership Program; colleagues & associates now own 100% of the company.
