Collective Concepts are a group of like-minded F&B professionals, founded in Shanghai, China in 2010. The Group's first venture was The Apartment Shanghai, located on YongFu Road in Shanghai's beautiful former French Concession. After having just opened The Food Central (first location), the team is now focused on its new project, The Geisha. In addition, the company has already started a project in the beautiful Island of Koh Phangan, Thailand and will open Red Boutique Resort in late 2012, which adds to the portfolio of high end living and dining.
Work for us! Collective Concepts are always on the lookout for new F&B enthusiasts who would like to add their experience and individual expertise to our group!
The group was founded by Robb Pollard, who, after 15 years of working in the industry, felt that it was time to finally set up phase one of Collective Concepts, opening "The Apartment" in June 2010 as the first, and now a very successful project. Robb's experience spans the globe (UK, Spain, Singapore to mention just a few locations), where he has brought success and profit in each and every venue he's worked at. Robb spent the last 4 years in Asia, mainly Shanghai, running successful businesses and researching the Asian market. He has enormous passion for the F&B industry, and is a real sucker for attention to detail in every form.
Robb teamed up with working partners in the form of Red Design, who have many years of experience in designing some of Shanghai's hottest and most sought after F&B outlets, Hair Salons and Shopping Centers. Red Design adds an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience by knowing what it takes to be the best in modern day design and décor.
Stuart Baldwin is the group co-founder who focuses on modeling the business and is responsible for the funding and investment-raising for the group. Stuart has over 10 years of experience living and working in China and his expertise in local financial markets is outstanding. In addition to Stuart's remarkable skills with financial management, his professional connections and great relationships with many important contacts in China add tremendously to the overall success of the group.
Mark Baar is Collective Concepts Exec Chef with responsibility for overseeing the food for all current and future venues. He's used old-school classical training and rose in the ranks to become a Chef that has helped open celebrity restaurants in Los Angeles and New York, and whose private dining rooms were home to guests such as Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Peter Weller, Madonna, Woody Allen and famous chefs such as Thomas Keller, Wolfgang Puck and Joaquin Splichal. Mark is well trained in not only the classical European traditions and techniques, but also fluent in most popular Asian foods, as well as bringing with him a vast product knowledge and ways of using foods from all over the world.
The group Marketing Director is Milica Stojkovic who has worked alongside Robb for many years in Shanghai. As well as having unrivaled contacts with media and advertising, Milica also holds the key to the Cities Database of our expected market. A dedicated employee and success driven in her field, most of "The Apartment" hype came through Milica promoting and creating the 'Buzz' prior to opening, though no money was actually spent on advertising!
