Hcareers is the leading job board for resort and hotel employment opportunities. Available hotel job openings posted by employers such as Loews Hotels and Resorts and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group frequently include hotel management, concierge, guest services, front desk and housekeeping positions. Even entry-level hotel jobs may lead to eventual promotion and advancement to lucrative executive-level positions.

If you're a professional in search of hotel employment, you're entering the industry at an opportune time. There is a growing need for hospitality employees at destination resorts, full-service luxury hotels, limited-service hotels and motels across the nation and around the world. From large national chains to boutique hotels and smaller lodging establishments, professionals interested in hotel hospitality jobs and resort employment will find many positions from which to choose.

According to recent data tabulated by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), hotels, motels and resorts (or the accommodations industry) provided 1.7 million wage and salary jobs as of January 2012. Extrapolating from 2008 numbers, service positions likely account for almost two-thirds of these hotel jobs. Many service jobs in the hotel industry are in housekeeping, hotel restaurant and hotel catering positions. Administration positions likely make up 19 percent of hotel jobs. Administrative positions include hotel accounting and finance, hotel sales and hotel reservations. Other hotel jobs include security, maintenance and engineering.

Most entry-level hotel and resort careers require little, if any, previous training. Management positions may require formal training, years of experience in the hospitality industry, or a combination of both. However, whether entry-level or executive, all hotel jobs require commitment to customer service. Hiring managers within the hotel and resort industry often look for individuals who possess friendly, positive attitudes and good communication skills.

The BLS predicts the number of jobs at resorts and hotels will increase by 5 percent by the year 2018. The prediction is a cautious one, as industries related to travel and tourism typically grow during expansion periods in the economy and the U.S. has been in a recession. However, other forecasts have been more optimistic. A survey conducted by ManpowerGroup revealed that employers in the hospitality industry expect to increase their staffs by an average of 14 percent during the first quarter of 2012. PKF Hospitality Research predicts that the accommodations segment of the lodging industry, can expect see an average increase of 25,000 positions in 2012.

This news bodes well for professionals interested in hotel jobs and resort jobs. Whether you're just entering the industry or are planning a move into a position of increased responsibility and compensation, check the Hcareers job board regularly.
