Conference, Meeting and Event Jobs

Conference jobs and meeting jobs offer friendly, energetic professionals the opportunity to use their organizational and planning skills to facilitate successful gatherings. Conference and event jobs are available in metropolitan areas across the nation. Whether your interests lay in managing, planning, coordinating, assisting or promoting, you'll find numerous conference, meeting and event jobs at Hcareers.

Hcareers is a growing job board for conference and event jobs. Featuring many of the top employers in the industry, Hcareers is dedicated to connecting managing and planning professionals with open meeting and event job opportunities. Available event staff positions frequently include conference manager and conference planner positions, event planner and event planning assistant positions, as well as convention sales manager and event marketing and promotion opportunities. Entry-level positions to senior level director of convention services roles are available to suit professionals of varying backgrounds.

Many event jobs are found in the hotel and resort industry. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), hotels and resorts employ the third largest percentage of conference and meeting professionals. Business clients may engage the assistance of hotel and resort event managers and meeting planners to organize their business conferences and corporate retreats. Professionals interested in these types of jobs should check out hotel and resort jobs as well.

Other event jobs are found at convention centers, stadiums, sporting arenas, music venues and country clubs. Convention centers may hire convention services managers and conference coordinators to handle conferences, retreats and professional conventions. Banquet halls and caterers may employ event planners to manage weddings and business dinners. Stadiums, sporting arenas and music venues may need employees to plan, coordinate and manage concerts and sporting events. These types of venues are often in search of event security and events sales manager positions. According to the BLS, other support services, which includes convention centers, banquet halls and caterers, employ the largest percentage of conference, meeting and event professionals.

People from a variety of educational and experiential backgrounds fill event jobs. While many employers prefer to hire staff with bachelor's degrees in marketing, public relations, communications, business, hotel management or hospitality management, others will select applicants with different backgrounds and allow them to learn the skills they'll need on the job. Many enter the industry after planning events or coordinating meetings while working in other positions. Others work in hotel sales or as marketing or catering assistants or coordinators before taking on their first meeting and event planning jobs.

Depending on your personality, you may find event, conference and meeting jobs to be stressful or exhilarating. The majority of roles in this industry are fast-paced and often demanding. While many hours are spent in traditional office settings, event and conference coordinators may also work on-site. Travel is also often a requirement of meeting and convention planning jobs.

If you are interested in convention center jobs or beginning your career in conference, meeting and convention management and planning, now is an excellent time. The BLS expects job opportunities to increase 16 percent by 2018, so check the Hcareers job board regularly for the newest conference, meeting and event jobs.
