According to the American Gaming Association, casino jobs have increased more than 70 percent over the last 22 years. In 2010, casinos employed more than 340,000 professionals who earned $13.3 billion in wages including tips and benefits. The American Gaming Association also reports that 566 casinos in 22 states supported close to $125 billion in spending and directly or indirectly contributed to the employment of nearly 820,000 professionals in 2010.

Las Vegas alone employed almost 85,000 people working in casinos in 2011, and over $12 billion in revenue was generated by 22 casinos in the Las Vegas Strip area, according to a report developed by the University of Las Vegas Center for Gaming. Revenue from craps, blackjack, poker, roulette and other gaming positions accounted for 38.2 percent of the total, while revenue generated from casino hotel room bookings accounted for 24 percent and food and beverage sales accounted for 22 percent.
